Course surveys economics systems with reference to the market system, capitalism, government policy, money and banking, and international trade. Topics covered through examination of current economic and political issues. (Not recommended for business or economics majors.)
Course introduces macroeconomics, utilizing modern economic theories to analyze fiscal and monetary policies. Content includes inflation, taxes, full employment, gross domestic product (GDP), economic growth, money and banking. Extensive use of graphical analysis.
Course introduces microeconomics, concentrating on the basic price theory of the firm; focus is on operation of supply, demand, cost and revenue functions in perfectly and imperfectly competitive markets; analysis of markets for both products and factors; examination of theory and practice of International trade and finance problems. Extensive use of graphical analysis.
