Oakton offers students the opportunity to earn college credits by spending the fall or spring semester, or a summer session, in a variety of other countries.
Oakton offers two month-long study abroad opportunities every summer:
- Accra, Ghana, University of Ghana
- Hyderabad, India, English and Foreign Languages University
Oakton faculty teach short-term (1-3 weeks) international field study courses during the interim and summer sessions. Destinations for international field study courses can vary each year.
Oakton also offers virtual study abroad. Students are able to take a course, or portions of a course, taught by faculty and professionals in other countries via online virtual platforms.
As a member of the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP), Oakton also offers the following study abroad programs.

To be eligible, students must be at least 18 years of age and have completed 15 to 24 hours of college credit courses. Other eligibility requirements may apply to specific programs. For those who qualify, scholarship support is available through the Oakton College Educational Foundation and other sources of funding.
