The Linux Certificate program provides the skills provides the baseline skills needed in real world Linux system administration. Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to perform maintenance tasks using command line, install and configure a computer running Linux, and configure basic networking.

Prior to pursuing this certificate, it is strongly recommended that the student has successfully completed CIS 101 (or CIS 103), CIS 116, CNS 105 and CNS 195, or possesses equivalent knowledge. Credits earned in these courses are not applicable to this certificate.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate system security, users/groups and file permissions for directories.
- Install, re-install, upgrade and remove packages.
- Explain the architecture of a Linux system.
- Install and maintain a Linux workstation
- Configure network settings using Linux command line.
- Enable file sharing using Linux commands.
- Perform easy maintenance tasks such as adding user to a system, backing up /restoring data, and shutting down/rebooting a system.
